A Mind is a Terrible Thing to Waste

Have you ever thought of dropping some coins inside a can with the “Panggaa Sab Ko” or “Money for the Poor” written on it? Well, we find this in many places bookstores, counters at the mall, commercial establishments, or even at the sidewalks. But where do these go?

It is not only for children who were abused, not only for children who are ill but it also helps the children who wants to go to school but they can’t because they have already abandoned by their parents who are very irresponsible, I say.

Did you watch the program “Philippine Agenda” last March 25, 2007? It is a very informative program because it features Filipino children who do more than they can normally do to attain good education. We all know that some Filipino children are used to work for a living than attending classes in a school. The “Philippine Agenda” featured this girl who was 12 years of age but she is still in the first grade. She lives in a dilapidated house located in a squatter’s area. Everyday, she goes to the river to look for broken glass that are scattered. Take Note: every kilo of those we call bubog in visaya dialect, cost only a peso and Fifty centavos. Believe it. Everyday, she is only earns Ten pesos and the whole family would budget it and use it very wisely.

There are times that she would not go to school because she has to work for the whole family. With her weight as 25 Kilograms and an average height of 3’9, she is highly malnourished. To think, she would walk from their house to her school which is a kilometer and a half far. And, the whole family only eats 1-2 times a day. Imagine the suffering that they are experiencing.

The other one is a teenage boy who is now at his second year in high school who is a part time student and a part time pandesal seller. Yes, he sells bread everyday at his age. While we are still sleeping at 3:00 in the morning, he is already awake getting ready to sell bread to the entire neighborhood. After two hour of walking around to find buyers, he goes back home binging his price. He is really sacrificing his sleeping hours just to help his parents earn money for his studies so that he can finish studying. He I really dedicated to help the family attain a better life and a better future.

Why would we take them for granted? We should help them in our own little ways because they are poor and deserving. Here in our university (UP), we help people excel in different fields. I hope that some companies are going to build schools for these children who need them.

The gap between poor people and rich people is very far. Imagine this great catastrophe. If only this gap would be near until we reach the point that we are already equal. It is possible. If only SOME PEOPLE THERE would share their blessings. The rich people are not the only ones to blame but also the poor ones because if only they have family planning. And if only people are EDUCATED enough to easily find job. Look at yourself. Do you really deserve to be what you are right now? Let us think of these children who are suffering like mice. Let us unite and let them know that it is never too late to change. Life is short. Let us be industrious enough to sustain our daily needs. Help them. Help them to attain education for a better life, better community and a better future to the whole mankind.

The only thing that I can say is vote for those politicians whom you think that can help develop a country to a better condition. Those who are willing to serve the people with all their hearts and not those who are only thinking of themselves. Let us start today. Study well kid and you will find our prize at the end of the rainbow. Good Day!

Is Love a Fallacy?

The story was really nice because it inspired me. But I tried to ask myself if why is Love a fallacy. What is the connection of the thoughts of fallacy to Love? That is why I'm very excited when I first saw the short story and I was very glad to read it. But after of which I have read, I have many questions to ask.

At the first place, why would Petey Bellows choose the raccoon coat instead of choosing Poly Espy. He might have known at the first lace that Poly likes Big Men and Petey only knew that Big Men in the university wear raccoon coats. I don't agree that Polly Espy is not a smart girl because she already knew about fallacise in a short period of time. She is just pretending. If she really is a dumb girl, she must not be studying in that school. Only that, she likes people who are treated as Big Men than a nerd boy.

I was very well informed by the different fallacies. Those made me very curious on studying Law. The man/narrator was indeed an intelligent one. He was just eighteen but he already knew about these things. Things to be used in reasoning out during court trials. Petey Bellows, for me however, really loves Polly. He wants a raccoon coat because he wants to be with Polly. I think, he already knows about Polly's interests- Big Men in the university so he decided to choose the raccoon coat instead of Polly at the first place because he already knew that time. Poor Man! He didn't know that Petey is wise but Petey did not informed the man.

Let us go to the other point. Is love really a fallacy. Then, which of those fallacies is Love? Why? Why? Why? And What? Maybe, it is the last fallacy which is Poisoning the Well. People tend to do everything for love. They would even love to poison a well in order to attain the one he loves. Maybe the author was trying to inform us the disadvantages and advantages of these fallacies.

The story was very funny but I realized that it was funny when I ended up the story with a cool question. Why would Polly Espy choose Petey Bellows who is a faddist rather than the man/narattor who is very intelligent, keen and better than Petey. Maybe also because of Love. Maybe, Polly realized that he loves Petey because of who he is. Not like the man who only thinks of himself rather than considering the feeling of his friend.

This would really inspire you especially if you are heartbroken. I recommend this story to you because it is really fascinating. From the title, to the body and to your reactions. I hope you will find time on reading this and hope that you will be inspired by the thoughts given by the story itself. What more if you end up the story by wondering. Good Day!

" A Summary of Max Schulman's "Love is a Fallacy""

A young man at age eighteen who was very smart, keen, logical, perspicacious, acute, and astute. Name some and he is that one. He is studying at a law school and he is living with this room mate of his, named Petey Bellows. They are quite the same in their lives with their family, has the same age but Petey is quite opposite as he is when it comes to his inner characteristics. He is as dumb as an ok and a faddist.

He found Petey, with a distress look on his face that the he suspected him to have an appendicitis. He told Petey to stay put and he will call a doctor. Then he heard Petey mumble. Petey wants a “Raccoon Coat”. He then asked why Petey wanted a raccoon coat. Then Petey said that he wanted a raccoon coat because all the big men on campus wear raccoon coats. He exaggeratedly said that he really have to have a raccoon coat. The man/narrator said that raccoon coats are heavy and smell bad but Petey didn't listen to what he said instead, he kept on saying that he has to have one. He'll do anything for it, anything even if it is imortnat to him. An idea came to the man's mind and decded to go home because he remembered that his father has a raccoon coat and this would help him in his plans. He surprised Petey when he came back. But they have agreed that the man would give Petey the coat with a condition. Petey must give Polly Espy to him because he really wants Polly because Polly is best fit for a lawyer's wife but she has a lack even if she is beautiful, and not disgrace. That gave the man a reason to date her. He must fill Polly with her lacks. They had an agreement that the man would date Polly as soon as possible but it is only a date and they are not gong to be as serious as a married couple. After all, he and Polly aren't going steady yet .He then gave Petey the coat and Petey cannot wait to wear it so he did wear it.

When the first date was held with Polly, he first wanted to teach her about a Law Topic which is all about Logic. For five nights of studying and exploring the beauty of Logics,Polly actually enjoyed the disscussions about the different fallacies which one can use to reason out. When he tried to ask Polly about it, Polly then did a big difference. She then knew about fallacies in a short period of time.

When the man finally told Polly her feelings,he was shocked to the way Polly replied to his words, that is, in a way that she make use of the fallacies. The man told her that he doesn't have to apply the fallacies all the time in because these fallacies are only taught inside the a four-walled room. Polly still didn't rather listened and continued to reply with the use of fallacies. Then Polly told the man that she is going to get steady but with whom? Petey Bellows.Yes, with Petey Bellows. Then, the man wondered why of all the people in the campus, she would get steady with his room mate who is a faddist. Why? It is because of his raccoon coat.

Out of this World...

Engkantos and Engkantadas are an integral part of Philippines folklore, mythology and superstition.

Rare is the Filipino child who has not been chided for staying out after dark, for wandering into areas overgrown with old trees and tall weeds, or for not being careful while playing near mounds of earth ( punso ), which are believed to be inhabited by spirits ( nuno ) or gnomes ( duwendes ).

For sure, it probably would be easier to instill an appreciation for, or even serious belief in engkantos and engkantadas in rural children who live closer to nature. In children's closest encounter with these beings would probably be on on line games and in fantaseryes such as Encantadia and Etheria. What exactly are these beings?

Engkantos and Engkantadas are collectively considered as elementals or nature spirits. They are classified according to the elements they inhabit- air, water, earth and fire. Air elements are called sylphs, water elementals are nymphs, fire elementals are salamanders while earth elementals are called dwarves or gnomes.

Some people believe that engkantos are male fairies that live in the sea. While an engkantada or a diwata is also a fairy, a female one that is believed to safeguard mountains and forests. Some people do not distinguish diwatas with their genders as either male or female and instead just what it is an engkantada or engkantado. These engkantos are seemed to be concerned with protecting the environment and ensuring the abundance of harvests from the land and the sea.

Some stories say that when people abuse their generosity, they fight back. They lessen their visiting times to the fields to bless the plants, to teach the people to be independent. When the time comes that these people would be hungry enough, they ask the engkantos to forgive them and help them by giving the people another chance. These elementals would help them but sometimes, they agree with a condition, It is either to sacrifice themselves or just to curse them.

Another abuse that people do to them is by damaging their habitats like that of the gnomes that are seen in forests or even on soiled areas. This would look like a hill but it is smaller than the Chocolate Hills. Well, whenever people see these hills, they try to give a sign to the gnomes that they would pass cause they might step in them. This is an indeed a good thing that people do.

Let us go to elementals in the sea. They say that once you put yourself into the ocean waters, thou shall not make any loud noise because you might disturb these creatures and in exchange, they would do something to harm you and those that are with you can also be harmed.

I have a story that my teacher shared to us when I was in the fifth grade. This teacher of mine told us that she has friends that are unnatural. They are gnomes that lived beside their house. When she was still young, these gnomes would like to play with her so she cannot resist the offer. They always play in a beautiful place which is a garden full of flowers. But my teacher said that the garden was really in a dark place near their house and the time in that garden is not running so if she goes there at 6:00 in the evening, she would be also back at 6:00 in the evening. It is really magical, isn't it? But when my teacher got sick, the gnomes are really pushing her to go with them to play for a long time but she cannot because her mother would be very angry to her. Days passed by but the illness didn't disappear. So they decided to go to a quack doctor to ask for help. The quack doctor said that they have to give a gift of pardon to the gnomes to help Ms. Evelyn to be well so they gave many food to the gnomes and after a day, my teacher got well. Isn't it mysterious? I do not believe to out of the world creatures but I have to because I have to keep myself very safe. And so do my family members.

I hope that your being informed by your parents about these creatures. Beware! They might be behind you right now...

What Happens When You Get Mad

Anger, whether uncontrolled or bottled up can be a dangerous emotion. You've heard the familiar phrase, “He was so mad he didn't know what he was doing.” Flying off the handle has caused countless highway accidents, injuries on the job, marital burst-ups, and homicides. Repressed anger has brought on psychosomatic asthma attacks, hypertension, migraine, colitis and a host of other real and imaginary illnesses. Studies conducted recently about anger have led to a number of provocative concepts. A bad temper is contagious. If a man has a hot-head, his children probably will be, too-in unconscious imitation or self-defense. Between the ages of 10 and 25, your irritability is at its lowest. Then, it steadily increases until from 40-60 your rage capacity is highest.

If you were to look into a mirror when you lose your temper, you would see yourself redden. The veins in your face, and temple swell. Instinctively your fists clench and you may be speechless. The toll of unmanageable anger is incalculable. Accidents are very often the result of individuals pouring out their hostility on their environment. Emotional causes of accidents are often deeply hidden in the private lives of workers.

That hidden ager creates or contributes to physical ailments. What sort of people tend to be hot-tampered? The higher up you go in the social scale, the greater the tendency to turn anger inward and become depressed instead of furious. A highly educated man may retain his anger but a truck driver may punch someone's nose.

Women fly into a rage about half as often as men do. That may be because men are more constantly exposed to situations and people likely to irritate them. This is due to the fact that women as a group are usually further up in the social scale than men. They are more civilized. They don't go out and fight wars.

Are redheads hot-tempered? Evidently that is a myth. Maybe they tend to live up to what the public believes about them. It is true, however that people in certain jobs- watchmakers, artists, opera stars-whose work requires utmost precision or whose egotism is easily wounded seem likely to have explosive tempers.

What is the safe way to treat your anger? Generally, it is best to blow off stream rather than keep it bottled up too long. Temper is an outlet to rid your systems of hates, grudges, and envy. Suppressed anger only builds up health-sapping tensions. But, while it is good to valve off pressure, you obviously should not go around displaying senseless rages.

Anger can also be a healthy emotion. The additional adrenalin released into your bloodstream almost triples your energy, which can be used as reserve power to jar you out of inertia. It is our fighting instinct, a wellspring of action. Anger is normal and we should expect it as part of reality.

When and how to bottle it up or discharge it is the dilemma of modern times. We should feel free to have emotions. And we should learn to understand and control them. Good Day!

Home Technology...

Livelihood awareness has become significantly important in the Philippines due to our present economic difficulties. The high price of commodities has made life difficult for consumers. I learned to be productive by utilizing inexpensive and locally available materials.

When I was in the sixth grade, my teacher in Home Economics taught us on how to make candles. I am here to teach you on how to do this because this can help you come up with a project that can benefit you. We go to the Candle Making process.

First, we have to prepare the ingredients. These are the following: Paraffin wax which are available at chemical companies or from petroleum refining companies. The paraffin wax which is consists of seven parts of the total candle. Another is the dye. This is used for making different color; two parts of micro wax which are available at chemical or pharmaceutical outlets; one part of crystal wax which are also available at chemical or pharmaceutical outlets and the essential oil which can give you candles that are smooth and hard.

The materials needed are the following: Containers for mixing colors and melting wax, molds (Plaster of Paris or Aluminum) , double boiler, water heater, wick which is made of bleached cotton yarn available at the market and a ladle for pouring the liquid wax into the mold and a basin.

Let us go to the procedures. You may take note of these because these are quite many. First, cut the paraffin wax into pieces. Put in a container and heat it in a double boiler until the wax is completely melted. This can also be done by utilizing a cooking stove and heating pieces of wax in a cooking pan. Second, add dye to the melted paraffin wax and mix until the micro wax is completely melted. Next is heat the crystal wax in a separate container and add it to the paraffin wax-micro wax mixture. Then, add 1 teaspoon of essential oil per liter of wax solution to make the candles smooth and hard. Stearic acid may be used instead. Then, prepare molds ( in two parts) on which to pour wax by taking out clamps to separate the mold. Apply oil into the mold cavities to separate the candle easily. Insert the wick into the mold and bring both parts of mold together and clip. Using a big ladle, pour melted wax in mold, filling it up to top.

For solidifying, put the mold into a basin of cold water for a few minutes to solidify wax. Take out the mold from water, open, and remove the candles. Lastly, cut off the excess wick.

This can also be a way to earn money. You can sell this together with your friends to your neighbors. These are the ways to pack your candles. Pack candles in strong paper or cardboard to avoid moisture. Label each packet and you may put ribbons around it to make it nice. And Presto! It is ready to be sold.

I hope that you learned something from this experience in making candles I hope that it can help you in a way that you do not have to waste a lot of money in buying expensive candles for such occasions. Good Day!

A Family Affair

One of the most awaited event in the whole campus- the Family Day. This is the day wherein the whole family gather and enjoy the activities awaiting. First,a mass was held lead by a priest from the Cenacle. The singing of the praise songs was lead by the Glee Club's master which is Ms. Catherine Rodel together with the club's members.

After the mass, a field demonstration was held. The faculty gave us a thirty-minute break to prepare for our dances. We, the second years are assigned to dance the “Japanese Parasol Dance”. After we prepared, from costumes to props, we then stepped on the open court to get ready to groove but when the song started, it sounds like a mess so we also danced like mentally retarded people so we have to stop and request the operator to play it again. It was so embarrassing! The people were laughing but I said ti myself, “ Just enjoy the show and go with the flow.” I shared this thought to my batch mates and they followed what I said so we happily danced and danced until we are through.

After we danced, we laughed and laughed. We then went to our respective classrooms to change our clothes. Then, the people are now ready to watch our exhibits from the Science Week Celebration. The “Science Fair” wherein the students showed their investigative projects, The Open House” in the Home Technology Room wherein the students showed their creativity in making designs, house tools, decoration and many more.

But the parents did not know that we have an affair of our own- The Football Challenge. We went to the open field beside the Arts and Science Building known as the A.S Building. Sophomores, our team versus the Freshmen. We enjoyed the game but our team lost. Well, there are more chances await for us so we are not disappointed.

After the game, we ate our lunch together with other year levels. We ate a sumptuous meal with Buttered Fried Chicken, Chicken Fillet, Lumpia Shanghai, Lechon Baboy and most especially, the Fresh Fruits. We ate and ate until we are full.

We then had the games. First is the game wherein the players must wear the clothes situated on the chairs one by one. I played with the others and enjoyed it and the people kept on laughing because of the big clothes. We won!

Many games followed. After the games, the most awaited part of the affair started- the Raffle Draw wherein they were giving lots of lots of prizes. Consolation Prizes worth a Hundred Pesos plus a half gallon of Ice Cream, a Third Prize worth Seven Hundred Pesos, a Second Prize worth Five Hundred Pesos and the First Prize worth a Thousand Pesos. Who would not long for it?

We really enjoyed the Family Day even if I did not win in the Raffle Draw. Nevertheless, the food was good, the games, the exhibits were worth seeing, the presentation and most especially, the fun and excitement. We cleaned the whole campus and after that, few of my classmates and I went to Fuente OsmeƱa Circle where a program was held. The “GAWAD KALINGA ISANG MILYONG BAYANI” and I am one of them. They are searching for a million people who are willing to help the poor people that lost their homes. I really enjoyed the program and I am glad to help these people. Good Day!

Lights + A Voicerecorder = A TOTAL NIGHTMARE

Now that I have time to share to you one of the worst experience that I ever had. Yesterday, we had the final graded presentation of our play in Filipino which is the playing of the “Florante at Laura”. The introduction was nice, the costumes and also the props and the characters as well but in th latter part, it is a chaos. It is because we have not practiced yet the last part of the story. That is what II-Palma students are. So we practiced until6:00 in the evening. We went home immediately because it is already the curfew time and we have to rest and ready ourselves for tomorrow's event, the event which all of us are waiting for. Some parents are going to watch.

After the sleepless night because of thinking if what would happen the next morning, the day was on. The sun is shining brightly and the pressure, too much pressure is in. We tried to ask for the first two subjects because we want to practice but we failed. After the class, we immediately asked permission if we are allowed to practice for the rest of the periods left in the morning and gladly, they agreed. We practiced all the things which we have to work on. We prepared the costumes, the props, prepared the casts, and the most important, we prepared the player well.

We didn't expect that the big day was the worst day that we would ever have. I forgot to say, I was one of the emcees of the program. I really felt so nervous. After of which I introduced the judges, we already kept the ball rolling. Our production was the first one to present.

I was assigned to the player. But I lost my script! I kept on finding it because I really need it but I cannot. I have to start so I started without my guide. In the middle part of the play, I did not realized that I made the wrong narration so I re winded it but it is not still the one that I have been looking for. It was very embarrassing so I decided to read the narration.

I like to cry but I can't. I'm thinking that maybe the people would say that I am not strong enough. So i asked apology to my classmates. I said that it is my fault but they did not take this as a complain against me. They comforted me and so, I tried to keep and hold my faith unto the lord to help us.

The final decision has made. They then announced the winners of the contest. Our section got the Best Supporting Actor, the Best Supporting Actress, which were Neil Adrian Guadayo and Hazel Mary Pastelero respectively. We also had the Best Poster which was made by Ms. Nicole Mitchel Singson. After, I realized that we tried our best and we made our best but it is not enough. Extra efforts is the lack. We cannot blame ourselves but ourselves are to be blamed because we are very careless.

We then talked to each and everyone if they have learned a lesson and their answer is YES. We have to be ready all the time and we must also be alert on the possibilities that would come. “Expect the Unexpected” they say. So my only advice is plan ahead of time to attain a good result. Good Day!

Vote Wisely, Vote our Party!

The election period is fast approaching. Candidates are already giving their COC(Certificate of Candidacy). Posters here, posters there, promises here, promises there, promises are everywhere. Their pictures are seen everywhere you go, hoping that people would remember them in the incoming election.

A candidate must first campaign for himself/herself or for his party. During the campaign period, a candidate must sponsor an activity or advertises himself so that he would be famous. Here in school, we are doing the same thing. I running for the position External Secretary of the Student Council School Year 2007-2008 exerted extra efforts in making the campaign successful.

Together with my party mates, we made a door-yo-door campaign to the whole campus. But unfortunately, we didn't make it to the fourth years because they had had their Physical Education Class . Nevertheless, on the second day, we approached some of them and gave them campaign paraphernalia like stickers, party logos, etc.

The next day, a Grand Student rally was held. Each of us introduced ourselves together with the platforms which the party made for the betterment of the student council. We presented it through an artistic presentation so that it would catch the student's attention and to make them listen to us. We assured them many things for the next school year. After of which, an open forum was held on the same day at about 5:50 in the afternoon so we have to hurry because we are running out of time because of our play in “Florante at Laura”. People asked questions but not that much. I have something to tell you about what happened to our play so you better watch out for my incoming posts.

Two days later, the election is about to start. I was not felling well that day so I decided to ask permission to go home because our house is very near from our school. But Madam Noreen Mercado, our school clerk, told me to go home after the election because my vote counts so I followed her. I went home after I voted and came back in the afternoon.

I was very glad about the results. I won the position and I also had the highest votes of 277. Chic Madonna Tambagan won the position of Chairperson, Camille Anne Garcia won as the Vice-Chairperson, Ynez Poslitico won as the Internal Secretary, Stacey Kay Fortuna as the Auditor, Leslie Adolfo as the Treasurer, McCherry Anne deLeon as the Third Year Representative, and the others.

I hope that we can do our best for the Student Council and do better next school year. We will try our best to improve as an individual as well as a student leader for the betterment of the Student Council and for the betterment of the school.

They say that our batch (SC) is strong. We promise to be wise, to be sensitive on the needs of the whole student body, and to be trustworthy of your votes. We are very glad so in behalf of the Student Council, thank you for your time and cooperation.

Help us make our school a better place to live and improve well. Let us work as a team and be united once more. Just tell us all your problems and we are very glad to help you and we are ready to support you with the help of the teachers and the whole student body. Good Day!

SEDATED

Hate is not the word
Pain is not the choice
Revenge is never the answer

Letting go takes time
Be patient,
Even if it takes forever

Some way, you will forget him
Somehow,with patience,
It will come...

Remember the story that I gave you with my past blog post which states my experience with my first love? I shared to you this poem written by Louise Gabato which is taken from the CIC's School paper. It really inspired me because all the time, I never realized that he's very far away. He is no longer with me but why is he still bothering my mind? I really cannot understand my feelings.

My friends told me to forget him because he seems to fell happy with his new environment and his new girlfriend. So I think and think until I finally realized that my friends are true. I heard that he is enjoying his life with his new friends and his girlfriend and you know what? She is better than me. As what the poem says, Hate is not the word. Who am I to hate him? He's not mine and I'm not his so what is the big deal?

Pain is not the choice. I can hardly believe this because I fell pain but not too much. It is painful because to think, I still love him eventhough we are far away from each other. But by now, I already had relieved the pain I am feeling inside.

Revenge is never the answer. Fighting back never comes to my mind. Why would I fight him? " Do I have a good reason to be angry?" I asked myself then.

Letting go takes time. This is really true. Letting go of a person takes a lot of time for thinking, a lot of time to realize and a lot of time to accept. You have to accept it with all your heart.

Be patient. Letting go needs patience. If you find a hard time letting go, you will find a hard time on reducing your temper but even it takes forever, just be calm at all times because this refreshens your mind.

Some way, I will forget him. Now I'm starting toget over and I'm also starting my new life again with my new friends, my new inspiration. If there are times that all I can do is to laugh, I forget him just for a while but he always comes into my mind.

Somehow, with patience, it will come. Maybe tomorrow, maybe the next day, maybe the next week, maybe the next year or maybe just forever. I know it takes a lifetime to heal the wound but healing the wound would not take a lifetime. If he wishes that I'll burn his memories inside my heart, I would not because it is kept and locked in that place forever. But for now, nobody can replace him until the time comes that somebody would find the key and open it once again.
Hope that somehow I enlightened your minds and inspired you with these thoughts and you might remember these because you may realize that it is never too late. Good Day!

Wanted: A Sitter

I experienced to be a baby sitter for two days because my aunt wanted me to look after her son while she is on a badminton tournament held in Cagayan. She told me that I'll do the job in exchange for a small sallary but it can help .I can't resist it because I also need money that time so I immediately took the job.

When you decide to become a baby-sitter you are taking on a very serious job. But it is also a kind of job that can be a great deal for fun. When it comes to the fun side of the job you will quickly learn that on your own. Taking care of young children is a natural job for teenagers like me because I observed that most children like being with young people, teenagers often have a real knack for plying with them and baby sitting is a good way to earn money.

The most important part of the job is SAFETY. The children you take care for must be kept safe and away from harm so I asked assistance from my dear mom. She told me some suggestions. As a sitter, your a pretty important person in the life of the child. He may watch you closely, and copy from you so be sure you are setting a good example.

Of course, you know very well that you don't actually become a parent when you take on a sitter's job. You can't punish a child as some parents might. I really put these things on my mind because honestly, I'm not as patient as Cheng. Well, you don't know her by the way so let's go back. Oh! Ah, there are limits to this job. It may be up to you to let the parents know about your limitations so I said that I can't be a nurse for my aunt's child but I'll try my best to keep him away from harm. Every job has really its problems.

For your own sake it's important to let your own parents know exactly where you will be when you take on a sitting job. In my case, my aunt asked my parents first before they let my knew. Remember: You should not take a sitting job when you are sick. Whether or not you have other teenagers with you, one thing you have to be very clear about : YOUR MAIN JOB IS TO WATCH THE CHILD.

In order to make the child happy, make use of your own brand of know-how. If you have special talents, show it to them. If your a born storyteller, or maybe you can pick out a time on the guitar. Do you know how to fold a newspaper into hats or rowboats? It may not be a great deal to you, but the children might be interested about it.

But the most important is you have to love your job. Love the child as your own. Treat them as a person but not as an animal. As soon as you already feel this, you can do your job as planned. Thank you and Good Day!

A Miracle brought by God

A part of me once swam to a river full of mysteries to look for its missing piece, the missing piece that completes an organism. After they found each other in a vast place, they lived as one and developed a perfect organism- a product of love and passion. After which I have developed inside my first home, I left happily to a place full of love and prosperity-a place of freedom and a place where you can find peace. I then took my first breath quietly and started to join the others in their quest for Life- a far and a cold place.

I’m happy to say that I grew with the best mom and dad in the whole wide world who took care of me through richer or for poorer. After many years of eating nutritious food, sleeping in a soft bed and being loved all throughout, I finally reached the stage wherein I’m contented for what I have. I accepted with all my heart these characteristics: a soft and slender hair, my blurred eye vision, my long-legs, my knowledge and most especially my faith in our creator. I love myself. When I underwent my puberty stage, I noticed some changes in my life. I didn’t expect that such things would happen. The broadening of my shoulders, the changing of my voice, my menstrual flow every other month and like others, when the time came that I started to admire certain people.

Love is found everywhere, it is given by anyone and it occurs anytime. Now that I am continuously growing to be a matured individual, I’m still finding my true self my origin, my foundation. And now that I am starting to explore the beauty of life, as a student and as a human being, I then realized that everything goes somewhere, everything is connected to everything else and everything has its price, a purpose. The purpose of giving birth is to give opportunity for an organism to evolve, to live life to the fullest and face their bright future under God’s hands. God know all and I’m trying to know the purpose of living with him. I’ll give you this prologue taken from the book of Bodie and Brock Theone which is the Second Touch. May this inspire you? Find out.

Adonai spoke to her softly as He formed her.

I AM sending you.

Adonai loved her, created her as a reflection of His great love. He swam beside her as she emerged from the warmth of the womb into a cold, far country called Life.

She hesitated. Tried to turn back.

He compelled her to go on. Breathe! Don’t be afraid! You are sent by Me beyond what you imagine are the boundaries of your world.

Have trust in God. God know what you are doing and if you are in danger, he’ll find a way to keep you safe. Just do your job here on earth. Take care of God’s creations because by doing this, you are likely to respect God to the fullest. Just pray that you’ll have a long life so that you can enjoy the beauty of life. Good Day!

Filipinos Around the World!

People love to watch the series of "Pinoy Big Brother" because certain pinoys from alll over the world would love to be part of the said program. To reach their dreams to be one of the housemates, they must sacrifice a lot. Family, lovelife and most especially their studies. I'm pertaining to Dionne who's a cebuana/UPian who dropped all her subjects just to join the reality show. It is really a big sacrifice because to think, she is going to graduate this March but she chose to give up on her studies for the sake of her ambition.
You have to think it many times because your future depends on your decision. It is her choice so, it is also her responsibilities. I hope that her decision is good. Choosing her dream than her future, her bright future. I'll continue to pray that she would win because Cebuanos would really be proud of her and so do UPians that keep on voting her.
Let's go to Wendy. Her story is as dramatic as a telenovela in the television. When she was still young, they are very rich. Her parents can afford to buy all the things she wants and she needs. But a disaster came. Years later, the whole family experianced bankcruptcy. All their money just disappeared in action. That's really a big disaster, isn't it? Few months later, her father died. That is a total disaster for them. So, she dicided to stop studying and moved forward to modelling. After two years of her career as a model, she decided to continue on studying until she graduates. Now, she enters the world of KUYA hoping that she will reach her dreams by the foundation given by the said reality show.
Let's go to Robert. He's a Filipino living in Milan. Actually, her sister married a guy from Milan so she decided to bring her mother and so do Robert to Milan. Now, that her sister moved to another house, leaving Robert and her mother. Now, Robert serves as the breadwinner so he tried to look for his future here in the Philippines inside the Big Brother's House. He tried to do his best in every task so that he could win. He is very dedicated to win for his mother. Filipinos are like that. They are very loving persons. Not like people in other countries who leaves the aged to the Home for the Aged.
All of us really have to sacrifice for the sake of our loved ones. We even give our life in case of danger. In the case of these people who sacrificed a lot in order to attain a good life, may their decision is for the good. And for us filipinos, let's try to be wise and keep on dreaming till we reach the star. I'm very inspired with these people because eventhough they belong to broken families or the low-class in the society, they don't easily lose hope. They are hoping that they could win in order to be famous and when that time comes, they can give all their families' needs. Good Day!

Teaching is Difficult

The school is our second home and the teachers are our second mother/father. These teachers act as our parents and in the same time, our guide to our dreams. Being a teacher in a day is very exhausting, as what I have experienced this KNOW YOUR SCHOOL Day. What more if we teach for decades, it's really a big challenge.

In a Know You School Day, we have to pay tribute to our beloved teachers by learning to experience on hoe to be a teacher, it requires a lot of time, a lot of effort and a lot of patience. The first thing to do is you have to study the different lessons that you have to teach. You have to understand it in order to share it with the students. In connection, it also requires a lot of alertness and enthusiasm in order for the students to understand it easily. You must combine your knowledge and sense of humor but not all the time. This can help the students to learn easily the topics discussed.

You cannot expect that everybody can understand it right away so you have to be ready with your examples and possible applications where you can apply what you have learned. Another is, you have to go beyond the box. You must expect that students sometimes ask questions which are beyond the topics discussed. This requires a lot of time. You must be patient because patience is a virtue. Patience lessens the pressure in you.

Another is, you must also be approachable. There are times that no matter how the students try to understand, still they cannot. So you must be ready for what they are up to you. Think of all the possibilities. You must also manage your time wisely. You must also encourage the students to study hard so that they can reach their dreams to become successful ones.

Also, you msut show equality and no favoritism because this is a very common issue against teachers. You must also love your students as you love your job. You must do your best so that the things you learned from your college days and the money you spent in order to be a teacher would be worth.

To be a teacher is to be a hero to everybody. A hero who makes a difference. A hero who made things possible and a hero who thought of others than himself/herself. They say that teachers serve as the foundation of the future of a person. They start to introduce us in a very cold and far place called life. They tell us the ways to a brighter future and they also serve as our guardians.

I am very happy to experience the difficulties of being a teacher but those difficulties are worth. In every success, there are obstacles that one has to overcome. So Ma'am/Sir, continue on inspiring students, loving people and teaching us the importance of education. You are our heroes! May God give you long life so that you can build more futures. Good Day!

What a U.P student is NOT

Everytime I pass through a certain area where people know that UPians are intelligent and UP gives a good quality education, some actually say,"Woah! She studies in UP but is she really intelligent?" The last question bothers me. I'm forced to say,"Are all UPians really intelligent?" Most UPians are brilliant but not all. The good things in UP are the school, the teachers, the quality of education and most likely the students. You can say all the good things about UP but what are some exceptions?

Some say that we are what they call as "nerds" but we are totally not. Some say that all of us are good in speaking in english but we are just reaching the average level. And they say that all of us are all-knowing but are we really that brilliant? The key is on the teachers. And most likely, people say that UPians excel in different fields but not all of us become professionals in the society. We are not born to excel but it's beacause of our perseverance. Some don't have this certain perseverance in their vocabulary.

People say that we are academic-minded but the truth is, we also are sports-minded. Actually, we have these certain time of the year wherein a sportsfest is held. Other than the High School Intramurals, we also have the Science Olympics which involves Science. We, the UPians, has this part of the mind set for academics and a part set for the extra-curricular activities. Often, we also play Pinoy games like patentero, piko, etc. if we have time.

They say that UPians are silent type of people but all I can say is, WE ARE NOT! We know how to talk with each other bacause no matter what, friendship really blooms all over the campus. Another is, we have this trait of companionship wherein love teams and a group of friends ( barkadas ) are built. We are humans. We have emotions like ordinary peole because we are one of them. But we are special in a way that some people are not. We are part of a society. We are special because we receive a good quality of education even if we are one of the low-class people in the society.

But the most intriguing are UPians are said to find trouble when it comes to politics and other issues in the government. As what Mdm. Logarta has said, "This is a democratic country." We are free to give our own opinions. UPians don't find trouble but we find justice. Think of what will happen if people don't say their feelings on a worsening country. The government needs the people- thier suggestions and shouts in order to attain a peaceful country.

"Don't judge a book by its cover." As what have Ms. Melanie Marquez said, "Don't judge me, I'm not a book." I agree to this. UPians are not subject to be talked about in the society. We are not famous actors but only , we stand for our rights so they have to give it to us. Don't expect to much from us because we are just human beings. Good Day!

Some Difficulties in Making a Blog Project

"What things do we have to do for tomorrow?" I always say this every afternoon. I'm very busy everytime there are assignments, quizzes and projects. Almost everyday, life here in U.P is very tiring and here's this blog project requiring 3-5 posts a week. Oh My God! "What shall I do?"

In every success, there are difficulties behind it. For this blog project, you have to manage your time wisely. Honestly, I'm a deadline fanatic. I mean that I love deadlines because I do my projects the day before or on the exact deadline period. Some people are like that. Now, only a few days to go before the deadline but I have to work on 35 more so I have to hurry up. Now I realize that I am wrong. If only I started early, I must have finished early. Aside from being busy, I'm really a lazy person. You can't blame me because it's me. Well, being lazy is not a sin but being lazy is wasting your oppurtunity to do things in advance. Like this one. I have a free time every 3:00-3:30 PM, and during this period of time, I'm talking with my friends. But I tried to think of my blog project. With that 30-minute break, I must have wrote 2 drafts for the said project.

Let's go to money matters. We all know that we are experiencing crisis within this year so we have to save our resources (money). My limitation is 2 hours in the cafe every week because we have no computer at home. Another problem is my typing skills. I type words slowly so I think I can't type 2,500 words in 2 hours. This is also connected to time management. If only I spent my internet hours on my project than checking on my account in friendster.

Another is being patient. You first have to accept the truth that patience is a virtue. If you are not patient, you can't do things with too much pressure so you have to have this initiative to do things patiently.

I'll give these comments and take these as a student in an extraordinary school but not as a critique. 5 posts are too much! This project is not only my commitment but I also have other responsibilities in other subjects. But I must do this because this is the only way that I can receive a good grade. Am I right?

I have realized all my faults. I have learned from this experience. All I can say is, know how to manage your time beacuse time is gold. Be willing to give all you can. Be industrious. And the two important things- be thrifty and be patient. Know your limitations but try to see if your worthy with those limitations. Feel free to ask yourself,"Can I make a difference out of patience, industry and love? "

Of course, Loving what you do is very helpful. It is better to love what you do than to do what you love. Live life! Good Day.

Why have a dog...

Everybody loves dogs. What's with dogs that man would love to own one?
As man's need for dogs that could perform specialized tasks increased, selection for desired physical and behavioral traits was more carefully practiced. This resulted in at least three distinct types: the sharp-sighted, long-legged grayhound type, ideally built to race; the large mastiff type, used as home guard and war dog; and the spitz type, perhaps the oldest of all varieties and the most versatile working dog.

Like its wild ancestors, every dog must undergo a taming or socialization process in order to adjust successfully to living with people.

Dogs ask a little from people. A friendly word, a gentle hand, and a dog will remain steadfast and faithful to one master. Dogs have been known to perform heroic deeds, sometimes risking their own lives to save a man from danger. They are also useful as guards, for tracking lost people and apprehending criminals, for sentry duty and haunting, and as guides for the blind.

In order to have dogs like the one sited above, they must be healthy. A healthy puppy looks well-fed-almost roly-poly, lively, and bright-eyed. He should, of course, have no obvious deformities. His eyes should be clear and he should be free from lice, fleas and ticks. He should have a hearty appetite.

Why do I have to tell you all that good facts behind dogs? Well, its because I didn't realized the capabilities of my dog before he died. He died because I neglected him. But you know what? He did many good deeds for the family. Aside from guarding our house, he also keeps the house free from dirty cats that once lived beside our house.

One afternoon, I sent him out of our house because he made a mistake. He ate the hot dog that my mother cooked for lunch. So he stayed outside until it rained.

Late in the evening, we heard some scorches on the door. It's our dog, chilling. But we left him outside because he is wet. When morning came, we realized that its too late. We saw him dead!

After that, I then realized that if only I gave him food to eat, if only I took care of him and if only I treated him as my own. If you know that you are capable of owning one, why not try it? But don't do the things that I did. Treat them as your own. Let me give you this prologue from the book of Bodie and Brock Theone which is the Second Touch

It is not for me to show th justice of my cause and complain how I am abused. The sheep are his, my life is his, and what he chooses to do with either is for him to say. My only concern is to commit my way and trust. all else is up to him.

Hope that this can even make you alert with the abuse you have given your pets. Remember: they guide your house from criminals in the society. Think of it before it is too late. Good Day!

What was that again?

Few writings really need to be memorized-that is, to be learned so that they can be repeated word for word. But I find a very hard time doing that. It takes a lot of time and effort for me to memorize even a few lines of poetry or dialogue. Memorizing a whole paragraph of prose can be a very difficult chore for us.
But think for a moment of popular songs. Why are they so easy to remember? We remember the words of popular songs because we have heard them over and over again. Also, we associate the words with the rhythm, and melody of the music. And most lyrics have some kind of rhyme. Rhyme, rhythm and melody are linked together very closely. They work together to help you bring the words to mind.
Memorizing prose, however, is a bit different. There is neither music nor rhyme to help you remember. Well, I took the idea from my teacher. On the other hand, every piece of prose is written according to pattern. Can you identify any special patterns in the texts that you have heard or read? Is the organization obvious-such as chronological order? If you can discover how the author organized his material, you will not only understand it; you will also be better able to memorize it.
Whether you are memorizing poetry or prose, there are several things that are important for you to do. I got this again, from my teacher. First, understand what you are memorizing; it should make sense to you. Second, repeat over and over again silently or orally what you are to memorize. Frequent periods of repetition are the only sure way to remember accurately. But be careful! Make sure you are repeating exactly what you want to memorize. Third, alternate your practice periods with frequent rest periods. Take a break if you get bored, move around, if that will keep you alert. If you can stay alert, you can memorize faster and you will remember more clearly what you have memorized. When you store material rapidly, it will come back to you easily.
When you memorize, here are some guides: Make up your mind to memorize; understand what you are to memorize; use frequent practice periods and recite aloud. If you are memorizing poetry, make use of the rhythm and rhyme; if you are to memorize prose, follow the author's organization. Patience is another key to help you remember what you have written or read. Don't readily lose your temper and give up because you cannot do things right without starting it right. Try and try until you succeed. Remember: Constant correct practice makes perfect. If you memorize with all your heart, you would succeed to understand what you memorized.
These can help you in your studying process to help you remember the things you studied for a purpose. May you be guided with this daily specially if your a student who is very industrious in studying. But always remember to eat first so that your mind would be boosted with much energy. Good Day!

to my Life

"It is wednesday again!" I am so excited knowing that I will see the boy or will I say the man of my dreams today. I'm seated beside a window where I can peep to see him.
It was 11:00 in the morning and we are having a class. When I looked outside the window, I saw him sitting on a rock beside the court. Our teacher then told us to answer some exercises found in the book. I carefully answered it on a sheet of paper and finished it rapidly. I heard that he is playing my favorite sport-volleyball. So I turned my head and directed my eyes unto him. I stared at him seriously knowing that he does not know I'm around. Suddenly, he glanced at me. I felt like he is thinking that I like him so I stopped.
After what have happened, I promised to myself not to stare at him for a long time but I can't promise that I'll keep my eays off him.
This afternoon, I went to an internet cafe to do my project in computer. After a few minutes of typing, I took a rest for a while and looked around. I saw him! Now I know that he is fond of going to internet cafes just play D.O.T.A. I know, he's serious about it. Besides, I don't know how to play that kind of game so I continued on doing my project. After I'm done, I visited my friendster account to see if there are friend requests. Well, I do that often. I searched for his name and invited him to be one of my friends.
But I was shocked. I read some of his testimonials and I found out that he already has a girlfriend and they are recently taking the same course. "Ouch!" Then I thought of what really my feelings are.
Maybe I'm just idolizing him or admiring him but not liking him. But why is that everytime I see him, my heart beats as fast as raindrops falling from the sky. Everytime I hear his voice, my ears feel comfortable listening to him and everytime I see him play my favorite sport, my body pushes me to join him.
By the way, speaking of volleyball! Maybe I'm just seeing my past in him.
When I was in grade school (grade 6 to be specific), I have a crush that's really like him. They both have beautiful eyes, red lips, tall and most especially, knows and loves to play volleyball. Alexander makes me feel comfortable everytime I'm with him. And everytime I see him during practices, I feel like I love playing with him. Same as my feelings for _ _ _ _. I forgot to say, that we played volleyball together once. But I'm wondering of who among them made me feel so right?
Well, I think only I can answer my own questions when the right time comes. But for now, I'm still hoping and waiting for the right guy. But still, I will keep on finding my true emotions. Good Day!

The Sacrifice...

Have you ever tried to sacrifice for the sake of your loved one?

Being the eldest doesn't mean that you have to expect special attention from your parents. Instead, you have to look up on your responsibilities in the family. The eldest should serve as a model to his/her brothers and sisters.

This morning, I woke up at 6:30 in the morning. I took a bath, I ate a heavy meal and left the house at 7:00 a.m. My schoolmates and I went to Hipodromo Elementary School to do our duties as volunteers. When we were to ride a jeepney going home, I received a text message coming from my mom. My heart suddenly ached. It stated that my brother was immediately sent to the hospital. I hurriedly went to our house to check if it is well secured before I go to the hospital. Then, I was informed that my brother has Bronchopneumonia-a lung disease. The doctor said that his lungs were filled with water and phlegm that's why he felt his back very painful. She said that leaving his back wet after he plays was the cause.

Suddenly, I remembered that I have to meet with my classmate because we have to make our project but I cancelled my appointment with her. I sent her a message stating, "I'm sorry. I can't come with you to do our project. Hope you'll understand." Isn't this a big sacrifice for a student like me? Yes, this is. To think, I have to accomplish all my projects to have a good grade to make my parents proud. But what is more important, a grade which helps you to reach your dreams or the life of a little boy who is hoping to be a doctor someday?

Some say that you have to think about others first before you prioritize yourself. This is one of the sacrifices one has to understand. You have to alot some of your time to situations like the one I shared a while ago.

Thank God! We finished our project and submitted it on time. God is good. If I was able to think about myself before others, I may pass the project on time but I may let time pass by without helping my brother.

My parents are thankful that they have a daughter like me. Honestly, I'm proud of myself because eventhough I'm too young to hold responsibilities, I made it!
I'll give you this Prologue taken from the book of Bodie and Brock Theone which is connected to my experience.

Losing someone or something often carries pain beyond measure. But it can also develop within us a heart of empathy for others if we allow God to use our pain for benefit, rather than becoming bitter and turning against Him.

There's an old adage:" You have to lose what's really important to find out what really matters."

Well, all I have to say is, thank you for reading my blog and I hope that you appreciated my effort to share to you my experiences. Good Day!!!
